In short

  • Pay only to the details in the contract: developer account, escrow or the lawyer's client account.
  • Never send money to staff's personal cards or “temporary” accounts.
  • Keep every payment confirmation — you'll need them for registration, resale and tax.
  • If your bank restricts transfers, the agency will advise legal routes for your country.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Check the payee

The company name and account number must match the contract.

  2. 2

    Choose a route

Bank transfer, the developer's local office or a licensed exchange service.

  3. 3

    Check rate and fees

Conversion and bank fees can cost 1–3% — budget for it.

  4. 4

    Get a receipt

The developer issues a receipt for each payment.

Alternative payment methods

Many developers accept more than bank transfers. If another method suits you better, it is safer through a licensed intermediary with documented confirmation and the equivalent amount stated in the contract. The agency will tell you what is available for a given project.
